Fish Recipes
Trodh Bucket Fish (Trodh) Popular as both a snack and a full meal, this tiny, crunchy, wriggling fish is usually eaten raw and alive to avoid the toxins that form as it decomposes or gets cooked. Most Argonian villages sell live schools of trodh in wooden buckets, making this fish a staple of Argonian life.

Cyrodiil

The food of the heartland of Tamriel is, for many, deeply disappointing. Indeed, the Cyrods' food tends to be, as a whole, bland in taste and texture, safely boiled to the point of being more watery slop than nutritious stew, and smaller to accommodate the custom of four meals a day. The Colovians have, over the eras, slowly and tentatively relearned the enjoyment of spices and the many cooking methods of their neighbors to the west and north, though they still err on the side of traditionalism, preferring simple, healthy and boring meals to the "excess" of other non-Cyrodilic cultures.

Their more populous and cultured counterparts of the Niben stubbornly refuse a change in their culinary customs, spurning all seasonings, herbs, and cooking methods that are not traditionally descended from either the foods allowed to the Nedic slaves of the Ayleids, nutritious and boiled so long that all toxins are "purified" from the cooked food, or the soldier fares of the Akaviri Dragonguard, meant to avoid spoilage and fatigue on long expeditions and nutritious but hardly flavorful itself.

It is very popular in the Colovian west, though a much more simplistic version, made only of the mashed potato crust, meat scraps, potatoes, corn, and carrots, as well as some fat and marrow from the sheep bones, is also enjoyed sporadically in rural Nibenese villages.

S'jirra's Famous Potato Bread x A sweet and buttery, pan-cooked potato flatbread made exclusively using the cultivar of Jumbo potatoes that grow in Faregyl Glade, off the Green Road between the Imperial City and Bravil. The recipe predates the Oblivion Crisis by almost ten years, and was penned down by the masterful Khajiiti baker and potato enthusiast S'jirra, immortalized in her most famous recipe's name almost five centuries later. Making S'jirra's potato bread requires use of moon sugar, though sugar leaf syrup or honey can be substituted, wheat flour, salt, and butter, in addition to her potatoes.

Elsweyr

Elsweyr Fondue Ale, Cheese, Fruit, Moon Sugar, Meat, Seasoning A staple from Elsweyr, with variants all over Tamriel as Khajiiti caravans began freely crisscrossing the continent and adapted their traditional dish to the various provinces. The base is always a good, creamy cheese, a strong ale, and moon sugar mixed together into an alcoholic, sweet cheese sauce that is kept over a low flame and set to a bubbling simmer, and in which fruit chunks are dipped and thinly-sliced meat is gradually cooked.

It has a rich, meaty, peppery flavor with bitter-sour highlights. A variant of it when scrib jelly is unobtainable substitutes it for the similar-tasting, slightly bitterer ash-hopper jelly.
Scrib Jelly Poultry (Kwama Scrib) The crushed innards of the larval kwama scrib, and highly nutritious, albeit with a marked sour flavor. Dunmer eat scrib jelly as one of their main food staples with gusto, and like to incorporate it or kwama eggs with virtually every recipe. Scuttle
Shalk Scuttle
Beetle Scuttle**
? The flesh of the many varieties of shalk beetles roaming the ashlands and volcanic regions of Morrowind, Vvardenfell and Solstheim is traditionally crushed into a cheese-like, greasy paste with a delicious, rich flavor not unlike the peppery cheeses of Hammerfell, with a greater savoury taste. It also has modest magical properties in alchemy, though many Dunmer would deem it a waste of an excellent delicacy.

Horse Haunch Red Meat (Horse), Seasoning (Salt) Primarily eaten so as to not waste perfectly good meat, the horse haunch is an opportunistic meal moreso than a Nordic staple, and consists of simply cutting the hind leg, salting the exposed flesh, and roasting the piece over an open flame. If a horse breaks a leg, it's usually cheaper to eat it or sell the meat than it is to pay to transport it and heal it, motivating people to eat or recoup rather than waste their investment. Some Nords who live close to Orcish settlements have developed a taste for the simple fire-cooked meat, however, and thread the leg roast with elves ear leaves and garlic cloves pushed into small cuts made in the meat.
